Dinan

Dinan was such a charming town, nestled near the boardwalk of a small Yacht club. The 18th century style buildings, crafted with granite and timber is also noted for it's homes built on stilts over sidewalks. The sloping street that you see us walking down is called Rue Du Jerzual, flanked by some of the oldest buildings, dating back from the 15th century.

Above is a galette....sort of like a wheat tortilla layered with cheeses, bacon, tomatoes and a fried egg on top. They are a very popular menu item in the Bretagne region of France.
This is a view from the bell tower in the center of town. We climbed our way to the top on rickety old wooden stairs and narrow winding stone steps to get to the top. A few minutes after we made our way up to the top to enjoy this magnificent view, the bell rang. The tower's walkway at the top is about shoulder width, the railing is about mid-abdomen height, so you can imagine when the bell rings, one may feel as if the vibrations of the bell might send them on a quick flight over the edge. My Mom and I just hit the deck, it was something to laugh about after we got the terrified feeling out of our bones....well, a little wine therapy is good for calming nerves.
