This morning, in my half sleep, punked out hair, non coffee'd, morning breathed, pj'd state, I put on my glasses (because "metallic silver hair" and glasses are a few of the gifts that children give you, along with saggy boobs and we just won't talk about that this early in the morning), wiped the crusties out of my eyes and saw this AWARD.(dun, dun, dah, daaaaa) My first blog award.
I stood on my bar stool, with the Land of Nod wooden spatula in hand (after I changed out of my jammies into my red award dress) and noted the following to my congregation of Avery, the cat and my two children, who were out of ear shot....but anyhow...
I said:
"I would like to thank the Egel Nest Academy for their courageousness to seek out and recognize good, wholesome, honest, charming, alluring, funny, intelligent, beautiful, well versed bloggers. I would like to thank my family for supporting me while I spend countless hours of dead stares at my laptop, reading the delightful works of all the wonderful blogs out there....and I would like to thank...
(MOM, CAN YOU WIPE ME?....MOM, I need some juice....MOM, I accidentally turned off the TV and can't fix it.....MOM....)
"Girls, don't ever, EVER stand on these barstools", Why are you doing it Mom? Well, your hair looks ridic-u-lus, and Lexie and I want some juice,
"In a minute, I am thanking the Academy for my award", WHATEVER!
"So, thank you to my children for keeping me constantly entertained. Thank you for providing me with an onslaught of ideas and stories to tell on this here blog. Thank you Bella, Lexie and Tim (after all, he had some part in the long, painful process) for making me a Mom, because there really is no greater award (life sentence) that one can be given, than the joys of Parenthood."

Well congratulations!! How fun is that?!? And I can't wait to read the post about the ER visit from Lexie falling off the barstool.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a speech! Congratulations on the award! I'm one of the "other" recipients but at 2am I came up with - well not this impressive, moving albeit interrupted-by-life speech. (And thank goodness I don't have bar stools because had I climbed up on it to give my acceptance speech I wouldn't have had the joy of stopping by here. No. I would surely be in the hospital with my DH standing over me saying, "what were you thinking?")
ReplyDeleteTrue story.
Now go and blog some more!! Yeah! I enjoyed visiting.
Way to go, Charisse! You are one cool bloggin' Mama! Great speech by the way! You are too funny!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love it!!
