Ok, so I know this is old news, May 12th old news, but I have to talk about it.
MILEY CYRUS.
I was reading in People magazine that Miley is "So embarrassed, so sorry...."You know, Anne Leibovitz took a photograph of Miley with her back showing and a wrap covering the front side of Miley, for Vanity Fair....
Here is my beef with the whole story... She is a kid, let her make mistakes, she is learning as she goes.
Some Moms are "outraged", wanting to burn their children's Hannah Montana paraphernalia...ARE YOU KIDDING? What is the lesson in that Mommy Dearest?
I just believe that even if kids idolize Miley, then address your family's values with your child. Ask them what they think about Miley's choices. Involve your child in the conversation of what is Right and Wrong with this situation, based on your family's morals. Don't let teen stars be your children's role models, YOU BE THEIR ROLE MODEL.
It is not the job of actors (who are ACTING) to mold our children, it is our job.
If you don't approve of the actions of another person, talk about it with your children. Make a lesson of it.
It must be so hard living under a microscope. Every corner turned there is a person wanting something from you, paparazzi, gossip columnists, critics.......
Let me ask you, if you had the world's eyes on you every time you stepped foot out of your house, would you be perfect? I would yell a lot less, wear makeup and fix my hair every morning, that is for sure.
Miley Cyrus lives in a glass house with a very extreme level of pressure on her to remain moral, flawless. Hardly the kind of pressure I would want on myself, or my children. My kids like Miley Cyrus and I think she is adorable, I know most of her songs and Yes, I watch Hannah Montana at times, it's kinda funny.
I just think that the public is dissecting what seems to be an artistic approach to photography and making it into a mountain of a story. I wish, wholeheartedly, that these people that focus their energy on a teen star would better serve our society by redirecting that energy into global warming issues, animal rights or something with a larger purpose....
well said, Sassy! Oh, and also? Whose children are actually going to open up a Vanity Fair and see this photo - we the parents must censor...and they are only going to see what we let them, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't think it even really looks like her, if Em did see it I doubt she would even think twice about it being Miley.
You tell em SISTA!
ReplyDeleteWell said. I couldn't agree with you more.
ReplyDeleteuh huh!! word, sista...word!!! Seriously... People are so judgmental! gah!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you here, and I'm pretty conservative where young girls are concerned. I didn't really think the photos were that provacative to begin with. The photos they released of her showing her bra with a sexy look on her face were more disturbing, if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteEven still, that kind of thing is SO typical 15 year old girl. She just needs her dad to give her the smackdown like anyone else's dad does. Maybe that's the problem?
