Before
After
I took the picture of Lexie by a window, so the light was natural and bright.
I am no expert, but, I will tell you that with some fine tuning in Photoshop, the end result looks more like a seasoned photographer took it.
The book I purchased is by Scott Kelby, called The Photoshop Elements 6 book. Now, if you have a different version of Photoshop, he makes books for most every version of Adobe Photoshop. I went on Amazon and bought my copy for over 50% off the cover price, brand new.

So, what my new book taught me...
First, I opened the photograph in "Camera Raw". Most photographers like to shoot in "Raw" (which I know nothing about, but do know that it is a better way, if you know what you are doing, and I don't).
So, this program offers the ability to edit in "raw mode" which can help your photograph to have that "BIG FINISH" we all desire.
On Lexie's picture, I played around with the exposure, edited blemishes, brightened her eyes, removed the chair rail that was growing out of her neck, removed the blue cast that was on the picture and warmed the whole shebang up a bit.

All of this is in the book.
This book teaches you how to whiten teeth, remove wrinkles (which is worth its weight in gold if you ask me), I think there is a section on how to make yourself look like a supermodel in swim wear (but don't quote me), remove unwanted objects and SO MUCH MORE.
If you can get your hands on a copy, do it.
There it is, my big reveal. Exciting, probably only to me. I hope my photos will show great improvement and if you end up using this book to enhance your pictures, please let me know, I will link to your blog when you do!
Happy Editing! oh, and thank you for indulging me....

Great before and after! When you say remove the cast, did you adjust the color balance? How did you warm it up?
ReplyDeleteI use GIMP but can translate some/most stuff from PS speak to GIMP. I think the biggest problem I have to trying to warm up my photos. I can not ever get them to come out looking like the professionals...
Perfectly done! What a huge difference, eh??
ReplyDeleteDid it give you an easier way to do vignettes than I passed on?
