Wonder

I often wonder if the acts of kindness, going out of my way way to create a special moment or memory for someone, being generous in some way will make an impression on my girls. I wonder if they will grow up to be empathetic and kind to others, all the while standing up for themselves when necessary. Do those actions mark a strong enough impression on them? I wonder?

I also wonder if creating those special magical moments for my children is offering a level of expectation that I am not intending....
For example: I took the girls, by myself, to see the Wishes Fireworks show at Magic Kingdom on Wednesday night. It is a packing of clothes, snacks, essentials, potty stops, changing of music or dvd's,
a trek in the car....then, parking, taking a tram, then a monorail to get into the park. It is about a 2 hour ordeal. After which, we fight an hour of crowds, parking lot jams and an additional 45 minute quest to LOCATE the hotel.
We wake up the next morning and Bella says: I want to go to MGM, you didn't take me there and that is where I wanted to go. WISH GRANTED, off we went to MGM. After about 4 hours, Bella says: Now, I want to go to the Nemo ride and go to talk with Crush. I say: Bella, that is at Epcot....Bella says: OK, I want to go to Epcot (Lexie sided with Bella, the traitor).
So, we take the double stroller, hike 5 miles to our car, get into the hot stinkin thing, drive to Epcot to "talk with Crush"....only, Crush didn't choose to talk to Bella....so now, she is crying. Lexie is also crying because she wanted to sing "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL" into the microphone and then, she bit her tongue.
Leading me back to, hmmm, I wonder, will they remember the 3 theme parks in less than 24 hours? OR.....will they remember the temper tantrum melt down as we were leaving Epcot because they wanted a $65 toy (that was probably made in China for about $1.50).
I wonder what I WILL REMEMBER?

  2. You'll remember how irritated you were that they don't sell alcohol in the parks, or that's what I would remember!
Fun times Charisse! You're making amazing memories with your girls.
